Reverend Gabriel Koumordji, the SVD provincial superior of Ghana, received the vows, in the name of the Superior General. Assisting him at the Eucharistic celebration at that occasion were Father Joseph Kallanchira, the SVD regional superior of Togo-Benin and a handful of confreres, including Father Andrew Qaye-Foly, the novice master.

A large crowd of parents, relatives, friends and pastoral agents of the local church, participated in the colourful celebrations, which were followed by an agape meal at the novitiate house itself.

Of the 17, four of them are originally from Togo. Most of the other professed members hail from Ghana, although there were some in the group also from the Kenya and Botswana provinces of the Society.

Dix sept jeunes novices de la Société du Verbe Divin (SVD) ont fait leur Première Profession des voeux religieux (de chasteté, pauvreté et d'obéissance) dans une cérémonie simple mais priante hier mercredi le 20 juillet 2005. La profession a eu lieu en la St Peter's Chapel, qui se trouve à côté du noviciat SVD à Nkwatia au Ghana.

Le révérend père Gabriel Koumordji, supérieur provincial du Ghana, étant le célébrant principal, a accepté les voeux des jeunes, au nom du Supérieur Général de la SVD. A ses côtés se trouvaient également le père Joseph Kallanchira, le supérieur régional de la SVD au Togo-Bénin, ainsi qu'une dizaine des confrères et amis prêtres.

Cette belle cérémonie a eu pour témoins des parents et amis, ainsi qu'une poignée d'agents pastoraux de l'église locale du Ghana. L'ambiance de fête régnait encore après le repas partagé vers 14h00 au noviciat.

De ces 17 confrères, quatre sont originaires du Togo. La plupart d'autres sont du Ghana, bien qu'il y ait quelques uns de la province de Kenya et celle de Bostwana.
